Pa. Gauge 1 steamers have ‘Turkey Trot’
By Harry Quirk Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012
At the Pennsylvania Live Steamers in Collegeville, the forecast for Black Friday (Nov. 25, 2011) was warm weather and clear skies, unlike past years, when it was either cold or rainy or both. After enough turkey, the Gauge One group was anxious to get one last run in for the season.

Celebrating 20 years at Houston Area Live Steamers — HALS 1992-2011
By Bill Courtright Friday, Jan. 27, 2012
People from all over the Southwest came out for the 20-year anniversary event at Houston Area Live Steamers — HALS — Nov. 10-Nov. 13 at Zube Park in Hockley, Texas. People bring their locomotives and trains in trailers, unload them on the hydraulic lift and park them on one of many available sidings. The local group has their stock parked in the car barn and engine barn located on site.

The 64-page book provides modelers with photos, plans and diagrams focusing on running garden railroads on either 32mm (1¼-inches) or 45mm (1¾-inches) track.
Water-detection system is back
Friday, Dec. 30, 2011
An electronics package that senses when water is low in a small-scale live steam boiler is once again being manufactured. Bill Ford of BF Industries of Fern Park, Fla., said in late September that he will be doing a limited production run of the Water Level Detection System.
Ford’s system has a small light that changes from green to red when the water-level in a boiler drops to the point of danger. The Ford system is easy to install, especially for Accucraft locomotives.
